Most people have a basic understanding of the term ‘earner’, but this phrase is often misunderstood and misinterpreted. It can be easier said than comprehended (see what I did there). Most people who are struggling with their finances don’t realize that their income is not directly linked to how much they make in an office job or any other form of monetary reward.
Instead, they would describe it as having “no clear way of earning money.” because, well…they don’t know where they stand financially at all, let alone be able to make enough to live out their dreams. And that is exactly why the internet comes in such a large part of our lives–to give us hope and help us to achieve those goals we have been striving for.
How about using the same principles that are used to generate passive income? You know, those things you need your salary or capital to grow, right? All you do is find ways to market yourself online, whether they are on paid ad platforms or personal and/or influencer networks, and post your products or services that will make a more passive income than traditional business models. If you ever have trouble finding products or businesses that connect to your passion, remember this. Anyone in today’s day and age may struggle to find a sustainable source of income and self-sufficiency. What I am doing here is giving you a unique way to monetize your skillset as quickly and affordably as possible by utilizing existing platforms and technologies—not trying to invent something new. That is not only beneficial, it also makes things much simpler. Let me explain.
It is important to note that many companies have websites created specifically for them—even if their primary focus is selling stock or bonds. These types of sites allow these entities the opportunity to easily promote a product or service for visitors, including through videos and social media. For example, take Facebook (for example), which has almost 2 billion monthly users. This means that Facebook receives several hundred million users searching for each of its posts every month. Each user is also likely to purchase approximately four pieces of content per month. The company pays this user $2 per month for this time spent browsing ads, like seeing sponsored posts, viewing photos, etc. Additionally, customers can pay for merchandise, gifts, coupons, and personalized recommendations. So, yes, one person can spend millions of dollars on advertising, marketing, product development, and more at relatively little cost. In fact, according to Business Insider’s annual report—a year-end look back at the top 10 US companies —the average cost of running a digital agency was under $15 per hour in 2014. In addition, in 2013, nearly 20% of advertisers in the United States were using at least some sort of personalization technology when promoting products or services, and nearly 40% of consumers had no clue about the identity of those brands on Facebook. All these statistics are evidence of how powerful personalization is in reaching target markets and increasing revenue.
It might sound great, but what happens if someone tries to use your business model? Here is how it can be exploited to generate passive income if someone wants to build brand equity.
Facebook Ad Manager: If you aren’t sure if someone is already using Facebook Ads Manager (you will usually see ads on Facebook or wherever you regularly spend your time), then chances are pretty good that they haven’t! They can be extremely effective when it’s just getting started. When you are done doing everything else, you still need to create a profile and start posting. Then, once you reach a certain level that is approved by Facebook, you have an option for two kinds of ads. Facebook does not take into account ad impressions (and thus, never ends up with higher conversion rates) but rather recommends ads based on past performance. If you’re interested in building your own brand and promoting others to your followers, then Facebook serves as a very good place to turn. As it turns out, when you advertise yourself, Facebook can even direct your friends to your page so that they can see what you have to offer. And Facebook knows this. With over 1.3 billion monthly active users, the platform uses data and analytics to keep users coming back for longer periods of time. This is what happened with Nike: When the world’s largest athletic apparel manufacturer found out about Google AdSense in 2007, the Internet giant took notice and began paying the basketball star, Michael Jordan, to become involved. From there, Nike made its name on the basketball court and eventually around the globe, becoming synonymous with their motto: Just Do It. Even though the brand has since changed the entire sports world’s rules, including the shoe industry, the concept remains somewhat similar—just buy them. By simply adding their logo to a pair of shoes, they now sell millions of pairs; making money on advertising space that should be theirs and yours alone. After all, Nike provides more value than they make, at minimum expense.
This is how Instagram works too. If you already follow everyone within your niche, most of whom you don’t see, then you can “applaud” their posts and show that you like them. Now, this type of strategy is already being used by major brands: Coca Cola, Taco Bell, Samsung, Mastercard, Uber, Hilton, Zillow, Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Baskin Robbins, Wendy’s, Target, Burger King, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Grub hub, KFC, Chipotle, JetBlue Air B Bs, Frito Lay Restaurants, Dunkin Donuts, Pizzas R Us, QT, Peloton, Red Bull, and Denny’s all have their own versions of this tactic. Of course, they are starting to incorporate affiliate links to their apps, offering discounts on items purchased via their promotions. Because of this growth of affiliate marketing, it is projected that it will be worth nearly $6 trillion in 2015. The best part about this is the fact that it doesn’t require any kind of special skill at all. It is entirely possible to work your way up through becoming proficient, even if your desire is purely financial.
You Can Earn Money While Working Out: Once again, creating an app or website to sell your products or, better yet, services is not difficult. There are plenty of free apps or websites with lots of features that can help you reach new audiences, connect with new leads, manage customer relationships, and much more. There are even numerous apps where you simply post a photo of yourself holding a jar of pistachios and you get paid. Obviously, you can make more money selling stuff, and there are tons of ways to do so, as long as you know how to find opportunities to build an email list and build communities. But these methods cost nothing at all in the end. Plus, the only thing that changes is, instead of buying everything outright, you start off slowly (or in small chunks), making each sale as valuable as the last. Not only can you work while exercising, but many businesses are also looking into joining forces with community groups, making room for more business to flourish. Think of this as playing catchup with an old car, where you gain more miles, more skills, and less gas mileage with each new purchase. Your business becomes stronger along the way. That is absolutely nothing compared to losing out after being the sole provider.
If you are going to take a side hustle, then it is important to do it properly. Your business isn’t just about growing wealth. It is also about helping people achieve their full potential. Being successful is not just working hard, but also making the world a better place for future generations. Use your connections, network, and resources to help others succeed. Find innovative solutions that solve problems, and watch the magic happen. Remember, that you can do this without a lot of money, though, which creates additional challenges and barriers for individuals in particular, but ultimately, it is a win-win situation for all involved. We tend to take things for granted, but there is always a way to change things for the better.
